Group multiplication depends on leadership multiplication. Follow the steps below to discern a leader, develop a leader, and deploy a leader.
👀 Step 1: Discern
-
Look for someone demonstrating FAITH.
- Faithful: abides in the Word, participates in worship, active in the Small Group
- Available: commitment and capacity to disciple a group of people
- Integrity: authentic and mature spiritual life, living in obedience to the Word
- Teachable: handles the Bible accurately, submits to authority of the church
- Heart for God and people: loves the Lord and others sacrificially
Note: The key is growth in the areas above. We’re looking for progress, not perfection.
-
Have this person/couple complete a Small Group Leader Application.
-
Once approved, extend an invitation to be an apprentice.
“I see God at work in your life. You're a faithful participant and contributor in our group. I believe the next step in your spiritual development would be to lead a small group. I have grown so much personally through leading this small group….”
🏗 Step 2: Develop
Train
Formal Training
- Essentials training
- Small group leadership meetings
- Other leadership training opportunities
Experiential Training
- Model: “I lead, you watch.”
- Share: “Let’s lead together.”
- Observe: “You lead, I watch.”
- Multiply: “Go make disciples!”
